In a shooting career that began in the 1930’s and lasted until the 1980’s, Norm Beckett did it all in target rifle shooting.
At the Canadian Fullbore Rifle Championships, he won the Governor General’s Prize three times, including 1939 which was the last one before World War II, and again in 1947, the first one after the war. He also won the Canadian Fullbore Rifle Championships three times and the Macdonald Stewart Grand Aggregate once. He shot his way onto eighteen Bisley Teams. At Bisley, he won the Queen’s Prize in 1960 and was runner-up in the Grand Aggregate in 1959.

Recently, the Executive passed a motion to change the name of the “City of Ottawa” Match to the “Norm Beckett” Match, a fitting tribute to this humble champion.
