Major Colin Brown is one of our longest serving members, having joined the DCRA in 1947. Moreover, he shot at Connaught as a Cadet in 1939- an incredible record of service to the DCRA and the shooting world. He shot his way onto the 1962 and 1965 Bisley Teams; was Adjutant to Lt.Col Bill Strachan’s 1966 Bisley team and was Commandant of the 1973 Team, one of the few to win the coveted Kolopore Cups. He was elected as Executive Vice President and served from 1973 to 1974. He was elected for a second term in 1981 and served until 1984. He is the second most senior Life Governor and has actively participated in the work of the Executive Committee before and after his terms as Executive Vice President. He was selected by the membership to be Deputy Chairman of Council in 1985 and has continued in this position until 2005.

Throughout his many years with the Association he has been a staunch supporter of Cadet Shooting Programmes. As a result the DCRA was at the forefront of the Cadet Shooting world until the late 1990’s. He has served on many committees during these many years and perhaps one of the most visible contributions has been his chairmanship of the Honours and Awards Committee. This small group has been responsible for providing recognition to the many deserving members of the DCRA.

Major Colin Brown has given much of his time and effort to the Dominion of Canada Rifle Association over the past fifty-eight years
